FUT Hair Transplant
Follicular Unit Transplant commonly known as FUT or strip method is the golden technique for hair transplant. It is still considered the best technique for hair transplant because this is the only technique, which can deliver the best and desired results to the patients of 6th to 7th grade of baldness.
Unfortunately, a majority of surgeons do not recommend this, in spite of knowing the fact that it is the best technique. Most of them even state that it is an invasive procedure, where the patient has to undergo surgery and pain, with lots of healing time.
However, the truth is that all procedures are invasive, whether it is FUE, robotics or FUT. In FUE and robotic hair transplant, a punch is inserted into the scalp to pull out a single graft. This means if 2000 grafts are to be harvested, then punch will puncture the scalp 2000 times. Secondly, the time required to harvest grafts in FUE is many times higher than FUT. More time taken in handling the grafts causes a higher rate of damage and that is the reason why the damage rate of grafts is incredibly high in FUE.
In FUT, a linear strip is taken out from the safe zone of the scalp and the gap is closed with trichophytic closure. The total time of this surgery is not more than 10 minutes. Here the patient is awake throughout the surgery and does not feel any pain at all.
The only limitation of performing this procedure is that the FUT procedure needs a proper setup with a qualified cosmetic surgeon, a team of highly trained technicians, a modernized grafts preparation room equipped with powerful microscopes, and an ultra hygienic and clean workstation. A non-qualified doctor with a limited manpower and resources cannot successfully perform it.
FUT technique of hair transplant
